The sacred dung beetle is used to represent Khepri, the early morning manifestation of the sun god Ra, who was responsible for rolling the sun through the underworld at night-time. The beetle was chosen because it mimics Ra’ s movements perfectly. Beetle has been used in ornament design for thousands of years to represent bravery, protection and indefigatable.
